Hi,

I thought I should start a thread about the lovely Italian Flavia Pennetta to appreciate her awesome performance against Venus Williams yesterday evening, so here it is!
I was really impressed because she was playing so well, there were many shots that hit the line exactly. The atmosphere of the match was also very special. It was getting dark and play on court 1 had already been suspended, but the ladies on Philippe Chatrier didn't want to stop. When they had another break, they walked to their seats as if everything was normal, so Carlos Ramos just gestured helplessly and said "Reprise" again - and the small crowd which was still there started to cheer enthusiastically. For me this match was one that made this year's Roland Garros already something special (along with the elimination of the Williams sisters and the retirement of Henin).

R3: Flavia Pennetta def. Venus Williams 7:5 6:3 love

Heh, Venus is not good this year, Serena was a bit better than her during this year Roland Garros, so when she lost to Srebotnik in 3rd round, I was almost sure that Pennetta, clay expert, should win over Venus. smile And she did it. smile

It was well deserved, it seems like working hard at Roland Garros this year is the key to winning against top players, Flavia fought very hard and deserved to win grin (and she's pretty hawt too, which makes it even nicer to watch her play grin love)

Boooooooh!

I wanted to make this thread! sad
I thought of it for so long, but I didn't think she deserved her own thread yet. She does now ...

But I think threads for Cirstea, Larcher de Brito, Benesova, Pironkova, Bascinszky, Krajicek and Zakopalova are not needed.

I think Flavia can go to QF, where she most likely will lose to Jankovic, but that would be ok too smile

Rest are probably useful, but thread for Cirstea is one of the most popular here. bleh

i think it's nice to have threads like that, see like Pironkova's thread seems to be important for the Bulgarian member(s) wink and only because Sorana or Michelle aren't having good results that doesn't mean we should delete their threads right away wink ok, Krajicek seems to be dead and Bascinsky made 1 good match in her career, but i still can live with those threads there if someone likes them smile

I just think those threads take too much space. Can't you put them together in one?
They're pushing the more "important" threads down to 2nd page.

I vote for Benesova, Bascinszky and maybe Zakopalova to delete...

About Michelle there's no voice, but ok, I just feel a litte satisfaction, I expected that... However it can stay here...

And thead-info about Harkleroad posing for Playboy may land in thread dedicated the most beautiful players... That useless info is not connected at all to the section, excluding Harkleroad's figure, but she's not the best player ever.

Yes they can. If some Portuguese maniac( wink ) post once in the M. Larcher de Brito thread, it can push for example Daniela Hantuchova's thread down to 2nd page, because those 15 people who posted, did it before the Portuguese posted.

But it doesn't matter. Sometimes I just have to look long, if I want to find a thread about a more "important" player. Can't we get a search function?

I was hoping that Venus would win the French
i knew she wouldnt but i hoped she would.

This girl knocked her out
and then got knocked out herself in her next match
she played very well against Venus (who played well herself)
and she was quite sexy in her own way.

I didnt see her get knocked out
the performance against Venus must of been a one off.

^^^ it's not that difficult to click on the little "2" at the top of the page, but that was not what i meant wink i was just trying to say that if Dani's thread, f.e., is that important people will keep posting on it and it will be in the 1st page wink

Mauresmo is ok, but I would like Flavia to win, because it seems she knows how to play against Venus & Serena! Anyway, I'm glad she won this match, because I don't like Petrova...

Yeah, Mauresmo has no chances against Willimses even if they used wooden rackets. laugh

Flavia on the other hand could cause an upset if they have a really bad day, so I'm going with her as well. grin

Go Flavia! gringrin

No, I'm not saying Mauresmo doesn't have chances against Serena & Venus, but Pennetta is one of players, who aren't and weren't in Top 10, and still know how to play against them grin

And, Amelie doesn't play good enough like she used to play a couple of years ago to beat Serena or Venus (Wimbledon 08) grin

I know you're not saying that. I was! With all due respect to Mauresmo's past wins but her game is nowhere right now and I'm surprised she even reached fourth round.

Let's face it, Marion is now French racket No.1 and soon THE No.1. smoking
