Ana reached the third round of the Australian Open with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over world No.54 Annika Beck of Germany. She will take on Australian No.1 Samantha Stosur on Friday.
It was a much-improved performance from Ana, following her somewhat nervous start to the tournament. She wrapped up victory inside 56 minutes against an opponent who had not lost a single game in her first round match.
Ana has 16 winners and 17 unforced errors, while her opponent's statistics were 10-29, which tells the story of a match that Ana led from start to finish. The 26-year-old dominated with her forehand and has now lost just five games against the German in two meetings.
"It was definitely an improvement on my first round performance," said Ana. "That is always the goal in a Grand Slam tournament, to get better with each match.
"Most parts of my game were good today and I'm really happy to have the chance to play Sam in the next round."
