Ana will get a chance to show off her culinary knowledge when she attends tonight’s Stars For Stars event in Miami. The evening will combine the Official Awards Party for Professional Tennis with a sampling of the finest gourmet treats that Miami’s greatest chefs have to offer.
Ana has been nominated for the Best Newcomer Award alongside Anna Chakvetadze, Anna-Lena Groenefeld, Maria Kirilenko and Nicole Vaidisova. Other awards that will given out to honour the stars of 2005 are: Player of the Year, Doubles Team of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year and the Humanitarian Awards.
After the prizes are handed out at Miami’s Four Seasons Hotel, players will help some of Miami’s most-renowned chefs dazzle the taste buds as they sample a global array of food and drink.
Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, James Blake and Venus Williams are among other current players expected to attend the occasion, along with legends Billie Jean King and Jim Courier. Special guests are set to include world-renowned British entrepreneur Richard Branson and Florida Marlins baseball star Jason Vargas. Tickets for the event have sold out.
Proceeds from the evening, which is hosted by ESPN commentators Cliff Drysdale and Mary Joe Fernandez, will benefit First Serve, a non-profit tennis organization that seeks to educate and empower youngsters through tennis.
Check back later to find out whether Ana picked up an award.
