Ana downs Pennetta

Ana defeated Indian Wells champion Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 6-3 in the third round of the Sony Open Tennis in Miami.

The 25-year-old triumphed in an hour and 18 minutes to set up a round four clash with eighth seed Petra Kvitova.

Ana secured the first set by breaking the Italian twice - and being broken once herself.

In the second set Ana held serve throughout, and scored a decisive break to end Pennetta's seven match-winning streak, which had included wins over two of the world's top three-ranked players.

"Flavia has been playing some really good tennis lately. She's really on top of her form," said Ana. "I expected a tough match today, and I'm really happy the way I played, especially at the end of the first set and in the beginning of the second set.

"I'm really happy to get this victory today."

Ana later wrote on Twitter: "Really enjoyed in my match today against Flavia @SonyOpenTennis Fans were amazing and I look forward to see you all on Monday again. Ajde :)"
