Ana enters Linz

Ana has accepted a late wild card into the Generali Ladies Linz, which begins next week. The 22-year-old replaces Serena Williams, who withdrew from the event as top seed after the draw had been made, suffering from a foot injury.

Ana's last tournament victory on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour came in Linz two years ago and the former world No.1 is excited to be returning. "It was obviously a last-minute decision," said Ana.

"But it's a great opportunity for me to play more matches, increase my match confidence and hopefully compete for the title. I want to pick up where I left off in Beijing, playing the kind of aggressive tennis I know I am capable of.

"It's a lovely event and it will be a special week, because it is their 20th anniversary. I'm grateful to the tournament for thinking of me after Serena withdrew."

It is understood that Ana will play her first round match against a qualifier on Wednesday, thus allowing her maximum time to acclimitise to the conditions following her exertions at the China Open in Beijing.

She comes into the event as the seventh seed but, ironically, will be the highest-ranked player at the tournament when the new rankings list is published on Monday.
