Speaking shortly after her impressive 6-4, 6-4 victory over Katarina Srebotnik, Ana said she was happy with her game and the progress she is making under the guidance of her coach David Taylor.
“I’m very excited to be in the semi-finals, but most of everything I’m very excited to be here and to play good tennis,” said Ana. “And I think today was really a good match.
“She played also very well. There were very long and good rallies and that gives me more confidence because I put in a lot of hard work in the last few weeks and months. I’m happy to see the results already come.
“I’ve been doing a lot of physical work. On the court – movement and coming onto the court and playing more aggressively. I think that’s the future of the tennis and that’s the way I play, and I’m just trying to improve this and play constantly.”
Asked to describe the manner in which she clinched victory, after a lengthy, entertaining rally, Ana said: “It was a great point. There were some really good points throughout the match, but the last point was also very exciting.
“I think that the slice in the last point, when I hit cross court, I think this was a great shot and I was really excited just to win, especially after that long rally, and I’m just really happy. I moved really good and I’m really excited to be in the semi-finals.”
