Ana has been drawn against home favourite Marta Domachowska in the first round of the J&S Cup, which begins in Warsaw on Monday.
Ana has never before played the Polish 20-year-old, who is currently ranked 42 in the world. Given that Domachowska is the highest ranked home player, the match is likely to take place on the Central Court.
If Ana wins, she will face her nemesis, second seed Patty Schynder, whom she has not beaten in four previous matches, in the second round. It is a very difficult draw for Ana, who has 88 points to defend at this clay court event, having reached the semi-finals here last year.
Were she to beat the Swiss player, Ana could meet world No.14 Anna-Lena Groenefeld in the quarter-finals. Svetlana Kuznetsova, Martina Hingis and Venus Williams are potential semi-final opponents. Kim Clijsters and Elena Dementieva are the highest ranked players in the opposite side of the draw.
The ranking points breakdown for the event is as follows: First Round, 1pt; Second Round, 25pts; Quarter-Finals, 49pts; Semi-Finals, 88pts; Runner-Up, 137pts; Winner, 195pts.
One of the highlights of the first round sees world No.22 Maria Kirilenko play former world No.1 Martina Hingis.
