The draw for the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells has been made. Ana, who is seeded No.8 thanks to the late withdrawals of Mary Pierce and Nicole Vaidisova, will play either Czech Zuzana Ondraskova or Frenchwoman Severine Bremond in her opening match.
The 96-player draw means that all of the 32 seeded players receive a bye into the second round. Should Ana win her round two match she is seeded to meet American No.29 seed Amy Frazier.
Ana’s occasional doubles partner, Maria Kirilenko, could await in round four while fourth seed Elena Dementieva is seeded to meet Ana in the quarter-finals. Top seed Justine Henin-Hardenne is a possible opponent in the semi-finals but Ana could not face the likes of Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova or Anastasia Myskina until the final because the trio are all in the bottom half of the draw.
A highlight of the draw is the potential fourth round meeting between Martina Hingis and Lindsay Davenport. The pair, who have played each other 24 times, including two Grand Slam finals, have not met since October 2001.
