Ana gets Pacific Life Open seeding boost

World No.1 Kim Clijsters has withdrawn from the Pacific Life Open, Ana's next event that begins in California on March 6. The Belgian's pullout due to an ankle injury, along with the absence of some of the world's highest-ranked players, means that Ana could be seeded as high as eighth for what is one of the most prestigious events of the year.

Next week's Sony Ericsson WTA Tour rankings will be used to determine seedings for the Indian Wells event. Ana is currently ranked 17th and is not likely to fall in Monday's list. According to the current list Ana is the eighth highest-ranked player in the 96-woman field. A seeding of eight would mean the 18-year-old avoiding anyone ranked above her until at least the quarter-final stage.

The non-appearances of Clijsters, Amelie Mauresmo, Nadia Petrova, Patty Schnyder, Venus Williams, Francesca Schiavone, Daniela Hantuchova, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Likhovtseva - all of whome are currently ranked above Ana - cause the Serbian's likely seeding to rise to as high as eight.

Barring any changes leading line-up will be as follows:

1 Lindsay Davenport (3)
2 Maria Sharapova (4)
3 Justine Henin-Hardenne (5)
4 Mary Pierce (6)
5 Elena Dementieva (7)
6 Anastasia Myskina (12)
7 Nicole Vaidisova (13)
8 ANA IVANOVIC (17)
9 Flavia Pennetta (18)
10 Nathalie Dechy (19)
11 Dinara Safina (20)
12 Jelena Jankovic (21)
13 Anna-Lena Groenefeld (22)
14 Maria Kirilenko (23)
15 Tatiana Golovin (24)
16 Anabel Medina Garrigues (25)
