In a very hot and extremely humid day Ana allowed Mauresmo to sail into Miami Semifinals.
Ana never really found to her rhythm as she felt the affects of playing a long singles match against Kusnetsova and a doubles match on Tuesday. Mauresmo raced into 6-1 3-0 lead before Ana began to fight back, but Mauresmo eventually closed out the encounter on her fourth match point, 6-1 6-4.
Despite the loss, Ana had a terrific two-week stay in Miami that included victories against No.10 seed Nadia Petrova and No.6 Svetlana Kuznetsova, which was her first career Top 10 victory.
Ana was playing through a pair of injuries this week in order to reach her first Tier I quarterfinal. She came to Miami nursing a sore hamstring and wound up twisting her ankle in her first practice session at the event. Despite the aches and pains, Ana is pleased with her performances during the fortnight.
