Ana was specially chosen to publicise news that the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour has named Wilson as the official ball of women’s tennis.
It is the second time this year that the 18-year-old has been selected above other players to appear in a promotional activity for the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, after she starred in a commercial for sponsors Whirlpool in January.
“For me, Wilson is the No.1 tennis brand,” said Ana, who was photographed with Brian Dillman, General Manager of Wilson Racquet Sports and Stacey Allaster, President of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, in Miami last month. “We grew up together and I love their rackets.”
As part of the new Sony Ericsson WTA Tour agreement, Wilson will produce a special Championship Ball to be used at the 2006 Tour Championships in Madrid. Wilson is also the official ball of the Australian Open and the US Open, the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup.
Wilson joins Sony Ericsson, Whirlpool, Dubai Duty Free, Porsche, Bed Bath & Beyond, Gatorade, Luxilon, Waterford and Saddlebrook Resort, among a growing list of Tour sponsors.
