Ana looks forward to IPTL

New details about the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) emerged during Wimbledon. Ana is set to take part in the 16-day extravaganza during the off-season.

The league runs during 28 November-13 December. It will begin in Manila, the capital city of The Philippines, before moving onto Singapore, Delhi and Dubai.

Ana was drafted to play for Delhi. She will compete alongside current men's No.2 Rafael Nadal, Frenchman Gael Monfils, Indian doubles specialists Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna and all-time great Pete Sampras. Retired French trick shot specialist Fabrice Santoro is also among the Indian line-up.

All four teams will play each other in each city, over three consecutive nights, meaning that a total of 24 ties will take place during the league season. Each rubber will be one-set with no-ad scoring, thus ensuring that each match lasts less than half an hour.

Each tie will consist of five rubbers: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and legends doubles.

Among the innovations include a shot clock (just 20 seconds in between game points) and Power Plays: in each one-set match the receiver can, on one occasion, designate the next point to count double i.e. if the receiver chose the first point of a game to count double, they would go 0-30 ahead if they won it.

Star names committed to take part include Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Andre Agassi and Serena Williams.

"It's very excting," said Ana. "It's an intense, breathless concept that I'm sure will provide great entertainent for the supporters, and also for the players.

"This is a great innovation and I'm really looking forward to taking part, and visiting each city."
