Mary Pierce stands in the way of Ana and an appearance in the second week of Wimbledon. The pair have never played each other before and Ana is expecting another stern test.
“Pierce is a great player, very experienced,” said Ana. “She played in the final in Paris [the French Open]. It’s going to be a tough match and I’m looking forward to playing my best game and trying to win.”
Ana is in doubles action again today. Alongside Tina Krizan she faces 14th seeds Eleni Daniilidou and Nicole Pratt. Ana is happy to be playing in the doubles competition.
“I really enjoyed the doubles,” she said about the 6-2, 6-4 win in the opening round over Italians Francesca Schiavone and Flavia Pennetta. “I think I played some good tennis. My serve was going well.”
Ana, who is staying in Wimbledon village with her family, revealed that she prefers to stay at home in the evenings rather than go out to restaurants. She especially enjoys watching episodes of the smash-hit US sitcom Friends.
“I prefer to stay at home so I can read a book or watch a DVD and spend some time with the family,” she said. “We all cook. My Mum, sometimes my father, and me! I can prepare something.”
