Ana moves up to No.20

Ana rises two places to No.20 in the latest Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings, which are published today. The climb is due to her fourth round appearance in the Championships, Wimbledon.

The 18-year-old also moves up two places in the Porsche Race to No.19. Her doubles ranking falls 24 places to No.95 as a result of her first round defeat at Wimbledon with Maria Kirilenko.

There are no new entrants to the top 10 and the leading five women remain unchanged. The biggest riser in the top 25 is China’s Na Li, who was a Wimbledon quarter-finalist and leaps eight places to No.22. Last year’s winner, Venus Williams, falls 11 places to No.23 as a consequence of her third round defeat.

Ana’s next event is the Acura Classic in San Diego, which begins on 31 July. She has no points to defend until the third week of August.
