The stomach injury that forced Ana to withdraw from the Hyundai Hopman Cup will also keep her out of next week's Medibank International in Sydney.
"I'm so disappointed to be withdrawing," said Ana. "I always have a great time there, and it's a while since I've played there.
"Unfortunately the injury I suffered in Perth against Justine Henin will not recover in time: I must rest for at least a few days, probably a week, in order to be able to play the Australian Open.
"I am sorry to anyone who was hoping to see me play in Sydney next week. I received a few messages already, actually, from people telling me they'd be there to support me, so it's a real shame. But I'll definitely be back in Sydney in the future."
Ana picked up the injury in her match against Henin on Thursday but initially believed herself to be okay. However, during practice on Friday morning she found herself in pain and unable to serve.
Doctors believe that with sufficient rest she will be fit for the Australian Open, which begins in Melbourne on Monday 17 January.
