Ana reaches Bali final

Ana moved into the final of the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali with a thrilling 6-1, 7-5 victory over Russian Nadia Petrova.

The first set was over in the blink of an eye, as Ana dropped just five points on serve. Petrova struggled to find any sort of rhythm, and couldn't live with the 23-year-old during a one-sided opener.

Ana continued her dominance in the second set, moving into a 2-0 lead. She had three opportunities to claim a double break at 3-0, but Petrova managed to hang tough. She then broke Ana and the match became fully competitive.

In fact, Petrova wrestled her way into the lead and had a set point at 5-4, which Ana saved. The 2008 French Open champion held, broke in the following game and then held again for a satisfying win that extends her winning streak in Indonesia to five matches.

"I played really well from the beginning," said Ana. "Then that game at 2-0 (in the second set), she really raised her game and went for more shots and made less errors and was serving bigger.

"Not breaking her then was kind of a turning point for her a little bit and then I played a bad game to lose my serve. That was crucial and then we had a bit of a fight."

Ana will take on Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues in Sunday's final, on her 24th birthday. Garrigues advanced to the final when German youngster Sabine Lisicki retired while trailing 4-0 in the third set.

Ana boasts a 2-1 head-to-head record against the Spaniard, with all three matches going to three sets.

The final is scheduled to take place sometime after 3pm local time (8am Central European Time; 2am Eastern Time). Click here for live point-by-point scoring from the Westin Resort Nusa Dua.
