Ana was delighted to end the season on a high, as she won the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali without dropping a set. She sealed victory against Anabel Medina Garrigues in the final yesterday on her 24th birthday.
The former world No.1 said: "I love this event. Last year when I won it it’s been great memories and now I fell in love with the place again. It’s a really nice place to play and compete and enjoy it as well. It’s beautiful spas and I never really find time for that but here you just have to. It’s so inviting, to relax and wind down.
"I was determined not to finish the season without winning a title, especially because I feel that I am making good progress with my new team," added Ana, who appointed Nigel Sears and Scott Byrnes as her coach and fitness trainer respectively in July.
Although she romped to the title for the loss of just 15 games across six sets, Ana revealed that she had been concerned by a few injury niggles: she had been troubled by a back complaint prior to the tournament, hurt her foot in her opening match, then aggravated her shoulder in the semi-finals.
"My shoulder was actually scary," she said. "[On Saturday] it started to feel really sore. I did some autographs after the match and I couldn’t even sign. I really tried to keep points short and take pace off my serve and it really worked well. I’m very proud of the way I played and the way I handled myself."
The 24-year-old will now enjoy a well-deserved holiday before beginning training for the 2012 season later this month.
