Ana rises to No.20

Ana has moved up two places to No.20 in the latest Sony Ericsson WTA Rankings. In the Porsche Race, the list used to determine qualifiers for the season-ending WTA Championships, Ana moves to no.30.

Ana currently has 888.5 points, none of which were accrued during the corresponding week in 2005. This week she is appearing in the Toray Pan Pacific Open, a Tier I event.

The breakdown of points on offer in Tokyo is as follows: First Round, 1; Second Round, 42; Quarter-Final, 75; Semi-Final, 135; Final, 210; Winner, 300.

Kim Clijsters is crowned as world No.1, having first reached the top spot in August 2003. She ends Lindsay Davenport's stay at the summit of the women's game. Australian Open winner Amelie Mauresmo moves up to No.2, while Italian Francesca Schiavone reaches a career high of No.11.

Ana's conqueror in Melbourne, Australian Samantha Stosur, is one of the biggest climbers within the top 100. She moves up 26 places to No.72. Serena Williams, who lost in the third round of the year's first grand slam having won the title 12 months ago, slips to No.39.

Despite playing just two events former No.1 Martina Hingis is already up to No.117. She is expected to re-enter the top 100 were she to win at least one match in Tokyo.
