Ana sees off Jankovic threat

It took her just 51 minutes to cruise past compatriot Jelena Jankovic. Ana dominated from the outset, breaking three times in the first set and twice in the second on her way to a 6-2 6-1 win.

Both players were able to trade huge ground strokes but Ana’s extra power and her improved movement gave her the edge.

She soon had a double break and absorbed the loss of her own serve comfortably, wrapping up the first set 6-2 and breaking at the start of the second.

Ana raced away to 5-0 lead and the only danger seemed to be the possibility of Ana choking with victory in sight as she did against Golovin in the first round.

Serving for the match Ana converted her first match point with a backhand winner.

Ana, who reached her fifth quarterfinal of the season, including the French Open, will face Srebotnik next.
