Ana will take part in the BNP Paribas Showdown for the Billie-Jean King Cup, an exhibition event in New York on 1 March. The 22-year-old, who qualified for last year's event by virtue of winning the 2008 French Open, will replace the injured world No.1 Serena Williams.
The event at the storied Madison Square Garden, which was inaugurated last year, is designed to showcase the previous season's Grand Slam champions. It consists of two semi-finals, played over one set with no-advantage scoring, and a best-of-13 point tiebreak played should the score reach 6-6. The final will be played over three such sets.
Ana will take on last year's US Open champion Kim Clijsters, with Venus Williams facing 2009 French Open winner Svetlana Kuznetsova in the other semi-final.
"First of all I would like to wish Serena a speedy recovery. I've had my fair share of injuries lately and it for sure must be a very frustrating time for her," said Ana.
"I am very happy and flattered to be invited to take part in this event once again. I had a great time last year, both on and off the court.
"No-ad scoring is such an exciting concept, for both spectators and players. Last year I had a very intense match against Serena; the atmosphere was amazing. I expect a very tough and exciting contest with Kim in just over a week's time."
