Ana moved into the third round of the Qatar Total Open in Doha when her opponent Simona Halep retired at the end of the first set. Ana was leading 6-3 at the time.
Ana made a slow start - she was broken in the opening game. But she quickly found her form and broke twice in succession to lead 3-1.
She dominated with her forehand. What seemed to be a back injury forced the Romanian to retire after Ana clinched the opening set 6-3.
On Thursday Ana will take on fourth seed and world No.4 Agnieszka Radwanska in the third round. It will be the ninth meeting between the pair and Radwanska leads the head-to-head series 5-3.
Most recently, the Pole defeated Ana 6-2, 6-4 at January's Australian Open.
