Ana smoothly progressed to the second round of the Championships with a 6-0 7-6 (7-3) victory over Hungarian Melinda Czink in 84 minutes.
It was a packed Court 18 that greeted Ana in the first match of her Wimbledon campaign, and she showed little sign of rustiness, racing quickly into a 2-0 lead after breaking Czink in the second game.
Ana's typically powerful serving and forceful grounstrokes dominated the unsettled Hungarian, and the first set was wrapped up 6-0 in just 19 minutes after another misfired forehand from Czink sailed long.
Things were not so easy at the start of the second set, however, as the skies began to turn grey, the wind became a little more blustery, and to her credit Czink refused to capitulate so easily.
A shakey game from Ana immediately allowed the lefty to break and get her first game on the scoreboard, and the rainclouds inevitably arrived shortly afterwards with Ana 2-1 down.
The short rain break which followed seemed to do Ana good - she immediately broke back to level the score at 2-2 with a terrific crosscourt backhand winner.
Czink didn't allow her new improved level of play to drop any further, however, and the match remained on serve until 6-5, with the Hungarian then taking the match into a well-deserved tiebreak, saving one match point with a good second serve.
The first mini-break of the tiebreak was achieved on the third point with good defence from Ana forcing Czink into volleying wide, and from there on the No.6 seed remained in charge, moving into a 6-3 lead and sealing victory after a Czink forehand error.
Ana now faces Meilen Tu from the USA in the second round.
