Ana takes on world No.2 Victoria Azarenka in the fourth round of the US Open on Monday. It will be the seventh meeting between the pair, with the Belarusian second seed leading the head-to-head series 4-2.
They most recently met in Carlsbad last month, when Azarenka triumphed 6-0, 4-6, 6-3. The 24-year-old has had the better of their clashes at Grand Slams, winning both in straight sets but on hard courts they are tied at one win apiece.
Both players struggled in round three, Ana recovering from a set and 5-4 deficit against Christina McHale, while Azarenka lost the opening set against world No.28 Alize Cornet, before storming back to eventually triumph 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.
Speaking after her win over McHale yesterday, Ana looked forward to the occasion of taking on the world No.2.
She said: "I really want to play against the best and challenge myself, because I'm ready to take them on. I had close match with Vika and close match with Li Na. I really look forward to this opportunity.
"I was really close in San Diego, I felt. I have a game that can challenge the top players. I look forward to that opportunity.
"That's why I'm also very happy to pull through matches like this. Now I have day also to recover, recuperate, get ready for that match.
"It's going to be tough, no matter. But I really want to take on that challenge as a positive thing."
The match is scheduled as the second of the day on Arthur Ashe Stadium and is set to begin sometime after 12.30pm local time (6.30pm Central European Time).
