Ana takes on Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm in the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali on Saturday. The match will take place on Ana's 23rd birthday.
Date Krumm is the only player in the eight-woman field that Ana has never before played. In fact, she has not even practised with the 40-year-old, who is ranked 53 in the world and received a wild card invitation into this event.
Date Krumm's unorthodox style of play - she has the ability to take the ball very early, and frequently generates some wicked short angles - has been the undoing of many top players this season. She has beaten the likes of Maria Sharapova, Nadia Petrova and Samantha Stosur during 2010, while she defeated top seed and world No.11 Li Na in order to reach this stage.
She reached a career-high ranking of No.4 in 1995 and retired a year later, at the age of 25. She made a remarkable comeback some 12 years later and is clearly a player who enjoys her tennis.
"She's going to be a very tricky opponent," said Ana. "I've watched her on TV a a few times and what's she has achieved is amazing.
"It's important that I continue to play as I did against Pavlyuchenkova, and to try to dominate."
The match is scheduled to begin at 2pm local time (7am Central European Time; 2am Eastern Time). Click here for live point-by-point scoring.
