Ana will attempt to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time since 2008 when she takes on Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova in the fourth round of the US Open on Monday.
Ana has played the world No.55 once before, in the first round in Rome four years ago. On that occasion Pironkova triumphed 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. Ana was ranked No.3 in the world at the time.
The Bulgarian reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2010 and a year later was in the last eight at the All England Club, proving her appetite for the big stage.
However, her form has dipped a little during 2012 and this tournament is the only event this year at which she has won three matches.
"It's just another match for me," said Ana, when asked how excited she is about the encounter. "I really try to take it like that. She's a great player. She's been in the semi-final of a Grand Slam before.
"It's not going to be easy. But it's definitely a good chance for me, for her. It's great to be in a position to play for a quarter-final. Like I said before the tournament, it would be a big goal of mine. So I really want to put my head down and work hard for that match."
The match is scheduled as the first of the day on Arthur Ashe Stadium and is set to begin at 11am local time (5pm Central European Time).
