Ana has dropped two places to No.23 in the latest Sony Ericsson WTA Tour rankings, which are published today. The lists reflect players’ performances at Roland Garros, where Ana reached the third round compared to last year’s quarter-final appearance.
Ana’s defeat to tenth seed Anastasia Myskina saw her lose a total of 112 points. Consequently Maria Kirilenko, Nathalie Dechy and Ai Sugiyama have overtaken her, while Elena Likhovtseva falls behind all four players.

Ana made several positive strides during the clay court season, but the injury she sustained in Berlin meant that it was a largely frustrating seven weeks.
Summarising the period, Ana said: “Warsaw was okay. In Berlin I played really good for that set. I was a little bit unlucky with the injury because I was starting to feel really good on clay. I can move around and run very well.”
Ana’s French Open conqueror, Anastasia Myskina, likened her performance against Ana in the third round yesterday to the form that saw her win Roland Garros in 2004.
“It was pretty good match, the best one so far in the clay season for me,” said the Russian, who was hugged by former Russian president Boris Yeltsin after the match. “I’m really, really happy with my game.”
Tenth seed Anastasia Myskina produced a brilliant performance to end Ana’s French Open dream. The 2004 Roland Garros champion triumphed 6-2, 6-3 in a hugely impressive display of reactionary tennis.
“She played a very good match,” said Ana. “She didn’t give me much chance. She was hitting the ball all over the court. I tried to put her under pressure and get into the court and change the rhythm, but everything I tried to do, she had the answer. She was just playing better today.”
Ana is intent to play her own game when she meets tenth seed Anastasia Myskina in the third round tomorrow. It will be the 18-year-old’s first ever meeting with the 2004 French Open champion and only the fourth time that she has faced a seeded player at a Grand Slam.
Ana has only played seven matches at Roland Garros in her short career but already she has ended the hopes of three home favourites. Today she demolished Frenchwoman Emilie Loit 6-1, 6-1 to set up a third round meeting with tenth seed Anastasia Myskina.
“It was kind of a tough match,” said Ana. “I played my game and didn’t really give her the chance to play hers. I took all my chances and I was a little bit luckier than her.”
Despite producing such a polished display during her 6-0, 6-3 mauling of Samantha Stosur yesterday, Ana is focussed on raising her level in the next round. She plays Frenchwoman Emilie Loit tomorrow.
“I’m going to try and improve with each game,” said Ana. “I was pleased with how I played against Stosur, but it’s important that I try to raise my level with each match.”
