Ana withdraws from Dubai

Ana has been forced to withdraw from the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships due to tendonitis in her shoulder. A long-standing ailment, she aggravated the injury during the Fed Cup at the weekend.

"I'm very frustrated about this. I've had so many small injuries these past few months and this is another. During the doubles match in the Fed Cup on Sunday I aggravated my shoulder, which has been bothering me for quite some time.

"The doctors are confident that it will become less of a problem as the season progresses, but right now I cannot serve because it's too painful. I should be okay in 10 days or so.

"I am sorry to anyone who was hoping to see me in Dubai, and to the organizers too, who always do a great job. I hope to be back there many more times in future years."

The 22-year-old's next tournament will be the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, which begins on 10 March.
