Ask Ana #31

Thomas: Are you planning on playing in the Zurich Open? I will be at the Zurich Open on my trip to Switzerland. What would recommend visiting during my stay in Switzerland? Good Luck the rest of 2006 and in your tennis career
Ana: Thanks for your support. I am planning to play in Zurich next month. It is one of my favourite tournaments. I recommend that you take a boat cruise on the lake so you can see the amazing views of the Alps. Also visit the Old Town, and if you like shopping you should visit the Bahnhofstrasse.

Rommel: Hi Ana, I have been a very big fan of yours since I watched you play against Golovin when you were 5-1 down in the 3rd set (I hope I’m not mistaken) and managed to turn it around and win the match. Then you played Venus which was very entertaining (you could have beaten her). My question is how do you manage to keep the confidence up even if you're losing? The thing is that you believe that you could beat any person and still lose after you beat him the previous match. Thanks for the reply.
Ana: Confidence and self-belief are two of the most important qualities in tennis. You can have the best strokes in the world, but without the mental game you won’t get to the top. So you must keep believing in your ability.

Shanna: Ana, in the current WTA Tour player guide it says that your most memorable experience was beating Amelie Mauresmo at the French Open. Has your win over Hingis in Montreal changed that?
Ana: Yes, that is now my most memorable experience!

Lori: You are a great player and I enjoy watching you play all the time. How do you manage to juggle tournaments, practice, family, homework and your fitness?
Ana: It can be difficult! Sometimes I wish there were 36 hours in a day! It is natural that I don’t always have the time to do the things I want to do, so I have to make priorities. I am sure it is the same for everyone else who has a busy life.

Vladi: Ana are you going to play at Stanford next year?
Ana: I have not decided my schedule for next year. When it is final, we will announce it on the site.
