Ana played much better this time but still not enough to beat Patty Schnyder. Schnyder won their fourth encounter in strait sets 7-5 6-2.
Ana broke Schnyder in the fourth game to go ahead 3-1; Schnyder then slammed her racquet and cut her left hand when the handle bounced up from the court.
Schnyder sought treatment two games later because her hand had become swollen, and she needed painkillers to continue. All this might have distracted Ana because Schnyder came back very strong and took the next three games.
Ana had further chances on her serve in the first set at 4-4 and 5-5 but failed to convert several game points.
In the second set Ana was obviously affected by wasted chances in the first set and allowed Schnyder to race ahead to 0-4 before she started playing the patient game that worked very well for her in the first set. At 1-4 Ana had a few break points which nearly got her back in the match.
Ana won another game on her serve before Schnyder converted her second match point to seal victory.
