Ana set for Moscow Sep 3rd 2014

Ana has added the Kremlin Cup by Moscow Bank to her schedule.

The tournament takes place during October 13-19 and is the final opportunity for players to accrue ranking points ahead of the WTA Finals.

Ana currently occupies the eighth and final spot in the standings, but she could fall to 9th or 10th after the U.S. Open.

Ana is now entered into tournaments in Tokyo, Wuhan, Beijing, Linz and Moscow before the end of the season.

Ana slumps to Plikova defeat Aug 28th 2014

Ana suffered a disappointing 7-5, 6-4 loss to world No.42 Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic in the second round of the US Open in New York. The 26-year-old was too inconsistent and encountered a superior opponent today, who took advantage of every opportunity to dictate the rallies with her aggressive groundstrokes.

Ana takes on world No.42 Karolina Pliskova in the second round of the U.S. Open on Thursday. It will be the first meeting between the pair.

22-year-old Pliskova, from the Czech Republic is just one spot off her career-best ranking, which she acheved this month. She reached round two by beating 60th-ranked Yvonne Meusburger 6-2, 6-2.

Ana cruises into round two Aug 26th 2014

Ana got her 2014 U.S. Open campaign off to the perfect start with a 6-3, 6-0 win over world No.45 Alison Riske.

Opening up Day Two’s play on Arthur Ashe Stadium, Ana got off to a shaky start: she was broken in the first game.

However, the 26-year-old broke back immediately and soon opened up a 4-1 lead.

To her credit, American Riske maintained a high level of intensity. Her head didn’t drop and she got to 3-5 before Ana closed out the set.

Ana takes on world No.44 Alison Riske in the first round of the U.S. Open on Tuesday.

It will be the second meeting between the pair: Ana triumphed 7-5, 7-6 in Auckland on 31 December, 2013, en route to winning the title.

24-year-old Riske, like Ana, reached the fourth round at Flushing Meadows last year. In fact, the two could have faced each other in the quarter-finals.

The closing date for entries is 31 August and the prize is an adidas item signed by Ana.

Meanwhile, the winner of the July competition has been drawn: Valentina Vásquez from Colombia is the winner of an adidas item signed by Ana.

Riske up first in New York Aug 21st 2014

Ana has been drawn to face American world No.44 Alison Riske in the first round of the U.S. Open, which begins on Monday.

Ana and Riske have met once before, with Ana triumphing 7-5, 7-6(2) in Auckland on New Year's Eve 2013.

If she reaches round two, Ana will take on either Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic or Austria's Yvonne Meusburger. 29th seed Casey Dellacqua of Australia is a possible third round opponent.

Ana accepts ALS ice bucket challenge Aug 19th 2014

Ana joined the myriad of celebrities taking part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a campaign to raise awareness about Lou Gehrig's, a neurodegenerative disease.

Ana was nominated yesterday by fellow WTA player Petra Kvitova. She was given 24 hours to take the challenge, and the 26-year-old showed that she was up to it.

Ana finalises 2014 schedule Aug 19th 2014

Ana has entered the inaugural Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open, a Premier 5 event that takes place in China during September 21-27.

The new event has prize money of $2,440,070 and effectively replaces the Tokyo tournament, with Tokyo becoming a smaller event and being staged a week earlier.

Wuhan is the birth city of Chinese world No.3 and two-time Grand Slam champion Na Li.
