Archive article: Hunters of the Ladies' Singles title beware. A teenage Serb is on the prowl and her ferocity so far hasn't spared anyone. On the contrary, with every scalp her appetite seems to be increasing.
On Court 13 today, Ana Ivanovic, the 17-year-old star from Serbia-Montenegro, sent out another winning roar. This time her prey was Stephanie Foretz of France. And again it was a straight sets affair, 6-4, 6-3.

After reaching two semi-finals in her last two tournaments, in Zurich and Linz, Ana’s rankings went up to a career best of 16.
Ana now has 1551 points, she moved up one place overtaking Elena Lichtovtsheva by 31 points. Ahead of Ana is Svetlana Kusnetsova with 1646 points.
Ana played much better this time but still not enough to beat Patty Schnyder. Schnyder won their fourth encounter in strait sets 7-5 6-2.
Ana broke Schnyder in the fourth game to go ahead 3-1; Schnyder then slammed her racquet and cut her left hand when the handle bounced up from the court.
Schnyder sought treatment two games later because her hand had become swollen, and she needed painkillers to continue. All this might have distracted Ana because Schnyder came back very strong and took the next three games.
Ana Ivanovic is through to semi-final after beating Tatiana Golovin of France 7-5 6-3.
In a match between two 17-year olds, Ana went 3-0 up but allowed her French opponent to level at 3-3 before breaking again for the set.
In the second set, it was Golovin who took a 3-0 lead, but Ana responded by winning the next six games to reach her second semi-final in two weeks.
Ana will now play fourth-seeded Patty Schnyder of Switzerland, who beat Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia 6-2 6-1.
Ana is through to the quarters in Linz after she defeated Tamira Paszek, the 14-year-old Austrian 7-5 6-1.
After playing a very close first set, Ana recovered her composure in the second set and won the match comfortably.
"It took a while until I got into the match, but the way I played in the second set leaves me hopeful," Ana said.
In the quarters to be played tomorrow Ana will play Tatiana Golovin of France. Ana has played Golovin three times before and leads the series 3-0.
Ana will take on Tamira Paszek, the 14-year-old Austrian wild card who defeated Elena Vesnina 7-6(6) 1-6 7-5 in the second round of the Linz Indoors tournament
Paszek thrilled the home crowd in her match, showing incredible composure by regrouping to win after squandering a 5-3 final set lead, becoming the youngest player this year (14 years, 10 months) to win a Tour main draw singles match.
This match is scheduled to start last in today’s programme. Eurosport is likely to broadcast the match.

Eighth-seeded Ana advanced to the second round of the Generali Ladies Open with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory Tuesday over Shinobu Asagoe.
They exchanged breaks in the first set, but Ana wasted two set points at 6-5 before prevailing in the tiebreaker.
Ana reduced her unforced errors and improved her serve percentage in the second set, breaking the Japanese player three times to claim the match.
Ana will meet either Austrian wild card Tamira Paszek or Russian qualifier Elena Vesnina in the second round.
After reaching her first Tier I semi-final in Zurich Open last week, Ana’s rankings went up 5 places. Ana is now 17th.
Ana is scheduled to play in the Generali Ladies Linz which starts today. She will play will play Shinobu Asagoe of Japan in the first round. If Ana gets through she will face Paszek Tamira (wc) or a qualifier in the second round.
