Ana sees off Falconi Mar 28th 2015

Ana defeated world No.100 Irina Falconi 7-5, 6(4)-7, 6-3 in the second round of the Miami Open.

At 7-5, 5-3, Ana looked to be heading into the third round without drama, albeit after a somewhat disjointed performance. The American had different ideas and broke back before dominating the tiebreak.

Ana, who has had a series of disappointing defeats at this venue, was animated as she protested several line calls, and she also required medical treatment at the end of the second set.

Ana vs Falconi Mar 26th 2015

Ana will take on American world No.100 Irina Falconi in the second round of the Miami Open on Friday. It will be the first meeting between the pair.

Falconi reached round two thanks to a 7-6, 7-6 victory over 48th-ranked Monica Puig.

Ana is competing in Miami for the 11th consecutive season. Her best showing is a quarter-final appearance on her debut year of 2005.

Ana seeded fifth in Miami Mar 22nd 2015

Ana is seeded fifth at the Miami Open, which begins on Tuesday. She receives a first round bye.

In round two Ana will take on either Puerto Rican Monica Puig or a qualifier. 27th seed Sabine Lisicki could await in round three, while No.11 Sara Errani is a possible fourth round opponent.

Ana is seeded to face world No.1 Serena Williams in the quarter-finals. Possible semi-final opponents include No.3 Simona Halep and No.6 Eugenie Bouchard.

February competition winner Mar 19th 2015

The winner of the February competition is Arlene Deutscher of the USA.

She correctly gave "Africa" as the answer to the question, "On which continent did Ana NOT win a tournament during the 2014 season?"

Congratulations to her, she wins an adidas item signed by Ana.

Ana to face Paraguay in Fed Cup Mar 18th 2015

Ana has confirmed her availability for Serbia's Fed Cup World Group II Play-Off against Paraguay next month.

Ana's coach, Dejan Petrovic, informed the Tennis Federation of Serbia about the world No.6's availability for the 18-19 April tie in Novi Sad earlier this week.

"It's obviously a huge tie for us," said Ana. "Playing in front of my home crowd is a special thrill. I'm really looking forward to this tie."

Ana lost 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 to world No. 28 Caroline Garcia in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The fifth seed lacked efficiency on the crucial points, but above all she encountered a shrewd opponent who executed her game plan in the most perfect manner.
 

Ana into round three Mar 14th 2015

Ana got her BNP Paribas Open campaign off to a winning start as she convincingly moved past Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 6-1 in the second round. The fifth seed was superior from the very beginning and never surrendered the upper hand during the 80 minute match, despite being successful on just four out of her 13 break opportunities.

Ana and Kerber lose in doubles Mar 12th 2015

Ana and Angelique Kerber fell to a 6-4, 6-4 defeat to seventh seeds Caroline Garcia of France and Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik in the opening round of the BNP Paribas Open doubles competition.

The pair had been given a wild card into the draw, and lost in an hour and nine minutes.

In singles, Ana's second round opponent on Saturday is now known: she will take on Yulia Putinseva of Kazakhstan.

Putinseva beat Tereza Smitkova 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday. Ana has never before faced the world No.107.

Ana and Kerber to resume doubles partnership Mar 11th 2015

Ana and world No.14 Angelique Kerber will team up again at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells: the pair have taken a wild card into the doubles draw.

Ana and the German partnered one another in Brisbane earlier this year, reaching the quarter-finals.

They have been drawn against the French-Slovenian pairing of Caroline Garcia and Karolina Srebotnik, who are seeded seventh.
