Ana produced a display of supreme quality as she crushed world No.6 Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the Mutua Madrid Open.
The 25-year-old broke the German immediately and led 2-0. Though she was broken back, Ana reasserted her supremacy as she overwhelmed Kerber with her forehand.
It was even more on-sided in the second set with Ana scoring three straight breaks. She was broken while serving for the match but added another break in the following game to clinch victory in only 58 minutes.
Ana's 26 winners and just 14 unforced errors illustrate the level of her play.
She will take on world No.2 Maria Sharapova in the semi-finals on Saturday in a re-match of their epic Stuttgart quarter-final of a fortnight ago, which the Russian won 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.
"It was a really good match in Stuttgart. There are just few little points I'm going to try to focus on more for tomorrow's match," said Ana.
"It's going to be a different matchup. Stuttgart was indoors; here it's a little bit of altitude and it's faster. I think it's going to be very important to focus on the first strike and my serve as well.
"It's going to be maybe a little bit similar to my previous match against Laura when she was taking the ball early and striking off everything."
The match is scheduled as the second of the day on Manolo Santana court and is set to begin sometime after 1pm local time (7am Eastern Time).
