The lead-in to the weekend's Serbia versus Russia Fed Cup tie continued today as Ana faced the Serbian media en masse for the first time since arriving in Belgrade. Alongside teammate Bojana Jovanovski the 22-year-old hit with, and signed autographs for, children at Zira shopping centre in central Belgrade.
Promotional activities were, however, overshadowed by developments in the line-ups of both teams: world No.4 Svetlana Kuznetsova is in Belgrade and will compete for the Russians, despite not being named in the initial team by captain Shamil Tarpischev, with whom she is known to have clashed in recent weeks.
Serbian No.1 Jelena Jankovic, meanwhile, wrote a heartfelt blog on her personal website about her injury problems ahead of the World Group I tie. Her participation was in considerable doubt, but she is now expected to arrive in Belgrade on Thursday, prior to the first official press conference and official dinner.
