Fine win in China

Ana rebounded brilliantly from her disappointing defeat in Tokyo earlier this week by beating American world No.28 Christina McHale 6-3, 6-2 in the opening round of the China Open in Beijing.

Ana served superbly throughout the 59-minute match and didn't face a single break point. She was similarly ruthless with the break points she earned herself, converting three out of three.

The 11th seed looked confident and dictated the vast majority of the rallies as she totally transformed her performance, relative to her display against Ursula Radwanska on Tuesday.

Ana will take on American Varvara Lepchenko - formerly of Uzbekistan - in the next round. The 25-year-old world No.20 defeated Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova 6-4, 7-5.

Ana and Lepchenko have never before played each other.
