Sony Ericsson launches Ana commercial

Ana is the co-star of a multi-million dollar marketing campaign to promote Sony Ericsson’s new Cyber-shot(TM) phone. Ana and her fellow Sony Ericsson WTA Tour professional Daniela Hantuchova were specially chosen by the electronics giant to film a television commercial that will be screened internationally.

The commercial, which receives its world premiere in Hong Kong today, can be viewed at a specially created website: www.nevermissashot.com.

In the commercial, Ana and Daniela - the Slovakian is one of the Ana's best friends on the tour - play a fast-paced tennis match on a court atop roofs and skyscrapers. They leap from building to building, resuming their encounter as they do so and are photographed on the Cyber-shot(TM) phone by a man in a nearby office block.

Julian Mack, Global Director of sponsorship for women's tennis title sponsors Sony Ericsson, said: “Ana is a great example of a dynamic young lady – independent and very talented. She is part of our motivation to bring tennis to a younger, wider audience. She’s a great role model and brand ambassador for Sony Ericsson.”

The commercial will be screened worldwide over the next three months in 60, 30, 20, 15 and 10 second versions. The “never miss a shot” tagline can be explained by the fact that the phone features a 3.2 megapixel camera that takes nine shots from one click of the shutter.

In addition to the TV commercial Ana will be seen in print advertisements as well as other marketing activities, such as in-store branding. Visitors to the website can also play an online pong-style game featuring Ana and Daniela and download images of the pair.

“It was my first time filming a commercial and it was a lot of fun,” said Ana. “We filmed it just before the French Open, outside Paris.

“It was a great honour to be asked to take part in this. I am also very grateful that they gave me the new phone!”
