Wuhan draw Sep 19th 2014

Ana has been drawn to face Russian world No.27 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round of the 2014 Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open.
 
The $2million tournament is in its inaugural year. Wuhan is the birthplace of Na Li, the Chinese legend who retired this week while ranked sixth in the world.
 
If she reaches round two of the 56-woman event, Ana will take on either Australia's Casey Dellaqua or Italian Roberta Vinci. Ninth seed Caroline Wozniacki is a possible opponent in round three.
 

Ana chalks up 50th win of season Sep 19th 2014

Ana scored a straightforward 6-3, 6-2 victory over world No.15 Lucie Safarova to reach the semi-finals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. The triumph was Ana’s WTA-leading 50th win of the season, and marks her first success over the Czech lefty in over six years.

Impressive Ana overcomes Azarenka Sep 17th 2014

Ana produced a highly polished performance as she defeated two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Ana timed the ball beautifully and made full use of the court, outmaneuvering the former world No.1 throughout the 100-minute match.

Ana takes on Belarusian two-time Grand Slam champion and former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka in the second round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo on Thursday.

Ana is seeded third at the $1m event and received a bye in round one, while Azarenka defeated home favourite Kimiko Date-Krumm 3-6, 6-0, 6-2.

The pair have met eight times before, with Azarenka leading the head-to-head series 5-3. Their most recent clash was a three-set win for the Belarusian at the 2013 U.S. Open.

Toray Pan Pacific draw Sep 13th 2014

Ana has been handed an exceedingly difficult draw at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. She is seeded third and receives a first round bye, but could face two-tome Grand Slam champion and former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka in round two.
 
Azarenka takes on 43-year-old home favourite Kimiko Date-Krumm, a wild card, in the first round.
 
If she reaches the quarter-finals, Ana could face her French Open conqueror, Lucie Safarova, against whom she has lost her last five matches, including in the first round here five years ago.

Despite her early exit at the U.S. Open, Ana has maintained her position in the top eight of the Road To Singapore, meaning that she currently occupies the final qualifying berth for the WTA Finals.

In the actual WTA Rankings, Ana slipped one place to 10th.
