Ana battles into round two Apr 2nd 2014

Ana fought her way past world No.65 Urszula Radwanska. The 26-year-old triumphed 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the Abierto Monterrey.

Second seeded Ana gave an inconsistent performance against a player whom she trailed 2-1 in head-to-head meetings.

After splitting the opening two sets, Ana moved 2-0 ahead in the decider and looked to be moving inexorably towards victory.

However, Radwanska drew level at 3-3, causing Ana and the majority of the crowd some anxiety.

When it mattered most, Ana cut out the errors and won three straight games to clinch victory.

Ana vs Pennetta Mar 21st 2014

Ana takes on world No.12 Flavia Pennetta in the third round of the Sony Open Tennis in Miami on Saturday. It will be the fifth meeting between the pair, with Ana leading the head-to-head series 4-0.

Despite Ana's historical superiority, it appears to be a 50-50 match-up, for Pennetta is in outstanding form: the Italian shocked the tennis world by winning the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells last week, beating top seed Na Li in the semi-finals and No.2 Agnieszka Radwanska in the final. What's more, she beat both players in straight sets.
