Ana beat world No.54 Nathalie Dechy 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 in the second round of the Proximus Diamond Games. It was a somewhat lacklustre performance by the 19-year-old, but she goes on to face second seed Kim Clijsters in the quarter-finals tomorrow.
Dechy, who has been ranked as high as 11th, made a poor start. Despite serving four double faults in her opening two service games, Ana raced into a 3-0 lead.
Ana beat world No.59 Anastasia Yakimova 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the Proximus Diamond Games. Ana hit 29 winners during the 58-minute match as she set up a round two meeting with Frenchwoman Nathalie Dechy.
Ana made a slow start. She struggled with her rhythm, both with her serve and groundstrokes, and two double faults helped the Belarusian move 3-1 ahead.
World No.26 Lucie Safarova, whom Ana was due to meet in the first round of the Proximus Diamond Games, has pulled out of the event. Ana will now face 59th-ranked Anastasia Yakimova in the first round on Wednesday.
Yakimova, a 20-year-old lucky loser from Belarus, has never before played Ana.
Qualifer Julia Schruff or world No.54 Nathalie Dechy awaits the winner.

Ana is in action this week at the Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp, where she has 25 points to defend from last year. Her first round opponent, Lucie Safarova, is one of the week’s biggest movers: she climbs six places to No.26 after reaching the final of the Gaz de France in Paris yesterday.
Ana appears in a commercial for Whirlpool, one of the main sponsors of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. The advert, which can be downloaded here (right-click and “Save Target” or left-click to load it in your default media player), is currently being screened on Eurosport. It is a continuation of the print campaign that Ana appeared in last year.
Ana has been handed a very tricky draw in the Proximus Diamond Games, a Tier II event that begins in Belgium on Monday. She will meet world No.32 Lucie Safarova in the opening round.
Safarova, a 20-year-old from the Czech Republic, is in the form of her life. She beat world No.5 Svetlana Kuznetosva 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the Paris indoor event this week, having seen off ninth-ranked Nicole Vaidisova 6-4, 6-2 in the second round. She also beat world No.3 Amelie Mauresmo in straight sets at the Australian Open last month.
The winners of the January competition are Ana Jeremic, Nicole Siemerink and Nikhil Ramakrishna. They all correctly identified the picture, left, as being taken at the JPMorgan Chase Open in Los Angeles last year.
Congratulations to all three, they each receive a signed poster of Ana.
The February competition will be launched shortly.
