On the eve of the new season we take a look at how each player in the current top 20 performed in 2006, what we can expect from them in 2007 and how Ana has fared against them
1. Justine Henin-Hardenne
We conclude our video highlights series with this clip of Ana's winner's speech and trophy presentation after she won the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
We hope you have enjoyed the highlights videos – there will be many more during 2007!
The high watermark of Ana's career so far, this 6-2, 6-3 rout of former world No.1 Martina Hingis in the final of the Rogers Cup in Monreal was one of the most impressive performances by any player on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour during 2006. Ana was never even taken to deuce on her serve during the 59-minute mauling.
Image: Ana, how difficult is it for you to use a one-handed backhand return?
Ana: Sometimes in practice I play some one-handed backhand drives for fun. I think I can play the shot quite well, but I would never change to it!
Dexter: Hi Ana. I'd like to ask you if there's a player that you'd like to win against most and if there's one is it a player that you lost to or one that you haven't played with? Thanks in advance for answering and good luck on clay!
Arguably the most exciting match of Ana’s 2006 season was this 6-4, 6-4 victory over Katarina Srebotnik in the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
Ana hit an incredible 41 winners during the match, many of them breathtaking forehands that had the crowd and commentators gasping. The final point, which ends with Srebotnik sprawled across the net and Ana jumping up and down with delight, is particularly entertaining.
