Ana has reached a career-high number 34 in the WTA tour ranking and is enjoying some of the best form of her career. She climbed 3 places after the semi-final in Warsaw last week.

Ana will face Dinara Safina (RUS) tomorrow in the first round of Qatar Total German Open 2005 in Berlin.

Safina suffered a humiliating 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Li Na in the Estoril Open clay-court tournament semifinals Saturday. Knowing that Safina is no mental giant, Li ground down the impatient Russian with a tenacious baseline display.

"It was a good fight and maybe I should have won the match earlier but she kept fighting," said the Belgian.

"I was playing much better in the second set but couldn't finish the points."

Ana blamed poor footwork for her defeat.

"I didn't move that well today," she said. "I made a lot of mis-hits on both backhand and forehand.

"I should have got more into the court and put her under pressure. But it was a great experience and I think I had my chances in both sets."

Ivanovic claimed one of the best victories of her career when she overcame the Russian 6-2 6-4.

The 17-year-old has leaped up the rankings and beat U.S. Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova in Miami last month.

World number 10 Zvonareva failed to find any consistency against her opponent, who played aggressive game and always looked the more confident of the two.

"I just tried to play my game, to attack her and get a little bit into court and get her on the move, and I think I did that pretty well," said Ivanovic, who added she was surprised at her rapid progress.

The J&S Cup 2005 in Warsaw starts on Monday. This is a tier II tournament played on clay. Ana will face Martina Sucha, of Slovakia, WTA 61, in the first round on Tuesday.
