Clay court schedule finalized Mar 11th 2014

Ana's full clay court schedule is now finalized. The 26-year-old is entered into five events on the red dirt.

Ana will take part in the Romania-Serbia Fed Cup tie next month, immediately before playing the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.

She will then play the Madrid and Rome tournaments, before Roland Garros.

Ana defeated by Stephens Mar 11th 2014

Ana has been eliminated from the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells following a 7-6(3), 6-4 defeat against American Sloane Stephens in the third round. The 26-year-old’s performance was filled with ups and downs as she lacked consistency on the key points, converting just three out of her 14 break opportunities.

Ana takes on American world No.18 Sloane Stephens in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Monday.

It will be the third meeting between the pair, with Ana leading the head-to-head series 2-0 thanks to a pair of victories at the US Open: in 2011 Ana triumphed 6-3, 6-4 and a year later it was 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Despite Ana's historical superiority, Monday's clash is likely to be the most competitive yet, with the two players now separated by just five spots in the rankings.

Ana survives Svitolina epic Mar 8th 2014

Ana showed all her fighting qualities as she somehow saw off the challenge of Ukrainian world No.43 Elina Svitolina 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(1) in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open.

Ana began her Indian Wells campaign in uncertain fashion and Svitolina's greater consistency saw her take the opening set.

Ana was down a break in the second set, and looked to be heading out, but she levelled and then broke again to take it 7-5.

Ana will take on Ukrainian world No.43 Elina Svitolina in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open on Saturday. It will be the third meeting between the pair, with Ana leading the head-to-head series 2-0.

Both the pair's previous matches took place on outdoor hard courts: Ana triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the 2012 US Open, and she was a 6-3, 6-0 victor in the second round of last year's Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.

Ana enters Stanford Mar 5th 2014

Ana will begin her summer hard court season at the Bank of the West Classic, which takes place in Stanford during 28 July to 3 August.

It will be the 26-year-old's third visit to the Californian event, Ana having competed in 2010 and 2011.

BNP Paribas Open Mar 4th 2014

Ana will take on either Russian world No.43 Elina Svitolina or 57th-ranked Monica Puig of Puerto Rico in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open, which takes place in Indian Wells over the next fortnight. Seeded 11th, Ana receives a bye in round one.

In round three Ana could face American 17th seed Sloane Stephens, while fifth seed Angelique Kerber could await in the fourth round.

Possible quarter-final opponents include No.4 Maria Sharapova, while top seed Na Li is a potential adversary in the semi-finals.

Ana to play for Mumbai Mar 3rd 2014

Ana has been drafted to play for Mumbai in the inaugural International Premier Tennis League, which is scheduled to take place across Asia and the Middle East in the off-season.

A unique format, conceived and organized by Indian doubles legend Mahesh Bhupathi, will see teams of ATP, WTA and legendary players facing each other in best-of-five set matches. The matches will feature men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and a legend’s doubles rubber.

Each set will be played with no-ad scoring and there will be a tiebreak at 5-5 if necessary.

Ana becomes StarCards' official supporter Mar 3rd 2014

Ana has been named as the official celebrity support of StarCards, which raises funds for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and The Supporters' Club charities.

For several years Ana and her fellow WTA players have signed playing cards and donated match outfits to charity auctions, helping StarCards raise significant sums for two worthy causes.
