Ana's three-set victory over Simona Halep on Friday may not have been enough to qualify her for the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals, but it has secured her a year-end ranking of No.5.
The losses today of Caroline Wozniacki and Agnieszka Radwanska ensured that Ana will enjoy her equal second-best ever year-end ranking.
The 26-year-old won titles in Auckland, Monterrey, Birmingham and Tokyo, and led the tour with 58 match wins.

Ana eliminated despite victory Oct 24th 2014

Despite a marvellous 7-6(7), 3-6, 6-3 win against world No.4 Simona Halep, Ana has been eliminated from the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore. Ana vs Halep Oct 23rd 2014

Ana takes on Romanian world No.4 Simona Halep in her final round-robin match at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore on Friday.

Ana beats Bouchard Oct 22nd 2014

Ana defeated world No.5 Eugenie Bouchard 6-1, 6-3 to keep alive her BNP Paribas WTA Finals campaign in Singapore. The 26-year-old triumphed after an hour and 24 minutes and faces fourth seed Simona Halep in a decisive group finale on Friday.

Coming into the match, Bouchard was the only player in Singapore whom Ana had not defeated: she held an 0-2 win-loss record against the Canadian.

Ana quickly went about reversing the trend. She broke Bouchard at the first attempt and opened up a 3-0 lead.

Ana vs Bouchard Oct 21st 2014

Ana takes on Eugenie Bouchard at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore on Wednesday. Defeat for either player would mean near-certain elimination from the event.
Canadian Bouchard has a 2-0 head-to-head lead against Ana, beating her 6-3, 6-3 at Wimbledon last year and in three sets at the Australian Open in January. In fact, Bouchard is the only player in Singapore whom Ana has not beaten.

Ana defeated by Serena in Singapore opener Oct 20th 2014

Ana fell 6-4, 6-4 to world No.1 Serena Williams in her first round-robin match at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore. Playing the opening match of the tournament in a great atmosphere, the 26-year-old could not exploit her scarce chances, and that proved fatal against arguably the greatest player of all-time.
