Thrilling doubles victory

Ana and Andrea Petkovic scored a satisfying 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 victory over Taipei's Chia-Jung Chuang and Anastasia Rodionova of Russia in the first round of the Sony Ericsson Open doubles competition.

Having accepted a wild card into the event, Ana and Petkovic appeared to have a lot of fun during the match, and at one point Ana handed her partner a $1 bill, which the German placed triumphantly into her wallet.

After clinching victory the crowd favourite pairing performed the "Petko-dance", which the German has popularised on the Tour over the past couple of years.

Ana and Petkovic will take on either sixth seeds Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic or the Polish pairing of Klaudia Jans and Alicja Rosolska.

On Friday Ana will meet Japan's Kimiko Date-Krumm in the second round of the singles competition. The match is scheduled as the second of the night session and is expected to begin sometime after 9pm local time (2am Saturday Central European Time).
