Vesti newspaper interview

Ana recently gave an interview to Vesti, Australia's Serbian-language newspaper. The following is an extract from the Q & A session:

How much did you enjoy the long break, in your opinion, how beneficial was it, and do you think other top players should afford a month worth of rest as well?
It was a lot of fun, very relaxing. I was able to spend quite a lot of time with my family and friends, and visit a new country: Singapore. I also spent some time in Australia, which is where I began training for the new season, at the beginning of November. I definitely think it helps to have a break like this: the season is long and there is always a new tournament to look forward to, but this kind of break helps you recharge and re-focus.

What is one of your concrete goals in 2010 which is seen as the year of your return. Is it a place amongst the top 10 or top 5 best female tennis players in the world?
I definitely hope to reach the top 10, and go as far as I can. But I prefer not to think too much about rankings: instead I like to focus on improving on the court. If you can improve your form then the results and ranking comes automatically. Besides, I am more concerned about winning tournaments than rankings.

Kim Klijsters has returned to the tennis scene, and by the New year she will be joined by Justine Henin. Will your ascent to the top be now more difficult?
For sure. Kim and Justine are two of the best players of recent times and with them around it will make women’s tennis even tougher. It’s a very exciting time, both for players and fans. I am looking forward to the opportunity to play against both of them again.
