Ana and Maria Kirilenko received a walkover into the second round of the doubles competition when their scheduled opponents, Tatiana Golovin and Marie-Eve Pelletier, withdrew.
The teenagers will now face the sixth seeded Chinese pairing of Ting Li and Tiantian Sun in round two. The elder pairing are the reigning Olympic champions and have won seven Sony Ericsson WTA Tour doubles titles, so it will be a very tough match.
Ana will meet another Chinese player, Jie Zheng, in the second round of the singles competition on Wednesday. The 23-year-old, who won the Stockholm title at the weekend to move to her highest ever ranking, beat Catalina Castano 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 in round one yesterday. Ana has never before played the world No.27.
The showdown with Zheng is scheduled to take place sometime after 12.30pm local time (6.30pm Central European Time) on the National Bank Court. Ana will not have much time to rest because the doubles match is scheduled as the fourth on Court 9, which means that it should start sometime after 3.30pm local time (9.30pm Central European Time).
