May competition winner and new screensaver Jun 13th 2007

João Gomes Dias from Portugal is the latest winner of the monthly competition. He correctly named Amelie Mauresmo as the player Ana had played against more times than any other on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour as of 1 May - the pair have met seven times.

Congratulations to João, he wins Wilson racket signed by Ana.

New best ranking Jun 11th 2007

After her appearance in the final of Roland Garros, Ana rises to her highest ever ranking. The 19-year-old is now No.6 in the world and within striking distance of the top four.

Even more impressively, Ana is third in the Race to the Sony Ericsson Championships, the rankings that illustrate performances since 1 January of this year.

Even after losing the French Open final in disappointing fashion, it was impossible to keep the smile from Ana's face. Her stunning features and warm manner, that have lit up this tournament, were in evidence here one last time as she paid tribute to her conqueror Justine Henin and looked at the positives of a fabulous fortnight.

"I'm a bit angry because I definitely didn't play the way I can," said Ana with a smile. "But I have to give Justine a lot of credit. She was so strong today and even didn't give me any chances."

Ana’s fantastic Roland Garros adventure was eventually brought to an end with a 6-1 6-2 loss to world No.1 Justine Henin this afternoon, giving the Belgian a well-deserved third French Open singles title in a row and the fourth of her career.

Ana crushes Sharapova to reach final Jun 7th 2007

Ana cruised into the final of the French Open with a 6-2, 6-1 mashing of second seed Maria Sharapova in barely over an hour.

The 19-year-old will now face her sternest test in the biggest match of her young career so far when she faces world No.1 and two-time defending champion Justine Henin on Saturday.

It was a sizzling start from Ana straight from the first hit – a perfect ace up the T, setting the tone immediately for the entire match, and any early nerves were settled straight away with a comfortable hold.
