Press Release:
“She handles herself so well. She’s so graceful, elegant and so positive – like Sharapova in many ways. Ivanovic is almost like the Catherine Zeta-Jones of the tennis world. She’s like a princess on the court: so feminine and yet so powerful with
it.” .....
Press Release
... Patty played well .... With her style of play it is difficult to get into rhythm and as my service did not function I rarely had a chance to dominate the points. ...
Patty Schnyder had straight-set win against Ana on Tuesday to reach the second round of the Porsche Grand Prix.
Schnyder converted her fourth match point to beat Serbia-Montenegro's Ivanovic, who has risen from 97th to 18th in the rankings this year, in 53 minutes.
Known for her aggressive style, Ivanovic made twice as many unforced errors (26-13) as her opponent and often followed a volleyed winner with an easy miss.
After having a few weeks off due to shoulder injury, Ana will be back in action at the $650,000 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix tournament in Filderstadt, Germany starting on Monday.
Ana is in top half of the draw in the tournament which features most of the top ranked WTA players including Lindsay Davenport, Kim Clijsters and Justine Heni- Hardenne. Ana will face the number 7 seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland in the first round.
Ana withdrew from the Luxembourg Fortis Championships because of a shoulder injury.
“I am very sorry to have to withdraw from Luxembourg
as I was looking forward to playing the event but after consultation with my doctors and the team I have decided to withdraw.”
Ana would return to the circuit a week later then originally planned for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Filderstadt.
Although French Open champion Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium withdrew from the Luxembourg Fortis Championships because of a hamstring injury the field for this tournament is still very strong. The event has been upgraded to a Tier II Tournament and some of the world's top-ranked players are taking part.
The top draw in the event includes:
1 Svetlana KUZNETSOVA (RUS)
2 Kim CLIJSTERS (BEL)
3 Nadia PETROVA (RUS)
4 Patty SCHNYDER (SUI)
5 Nathalie DECHY (FRA)
6 Elena BOVINA (RUS)
7 Ana IVANOVIC (SCG)

I look forward to a good indoor season...
