Ask Ana #38 Nov 29th 2006

Kristin: Hey Ana! I’ve got a question: How do you do your hair if you play a match? I think that most female players have long hair, and especially if you have a layered haircut (like me) it is very difficult to do the hair without having any strands of hair hanging in the face. Do you have a special way to be able to play with a "clear view"? ;) Ana, I wish you all the best for your tennis career! Ajde!

Ask Ana #37 Nov 26th 2006

Image: Hi Ana, thanks to the answers to many questions we ask you and needless to say, your answers are brilliant and very informative, like the way you look and carry yourself in every way. May I know if you do swim as part of your routine exercise since swimming involves swinging arms and trains almost the whole body??? Love u lots!!!
Ana: Thanks! At the moment swimming is not part of my training regime but we plan to add it to my programme very soon, probably next month.

Ana's best matches of 2006 Nov 23rd 2006

A look back at six of Ana’s best matches during 2006

6-3, 7-5 vs Amelie Mauresmo, Sydney, January
Ana was only just beginning her second full season as a pro but, remarkably, she was facing world No.3 Amelie Mauresmo for the fifth time. Along with the win over Hingis (see below) Ana rates this performance as one of her two best in her short career to date. The magnitude of the victory was amplified when the Frenchwoman went on to win the Australian Open a fortnight later. In fact, Mauresmo did not suffer another defeat for another 17 matches.

Video highlights - Ana vs Mauresmo at Roland Garros Nov 22nd 2006

Until she thrashed Martina Hingis in the Montreal final this year, the high watermark of Ana’s fledgling career was this 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over then world No.3 Amelie Mauresmo on Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros.

Ana showed remarkable nerve to hold off the Frenchwoman in front of her adoring fans. In only her second Grand Slam as a senior, Ana would go on to make the quarter-finals.
