Sam: Hi Ana: Congratulations on all of your success thus far. I am writing to ask about your hitting partners when you are on the road. Do you have a practice partner that travels with you or is David your main hitting partner? I was a hitting partner for some top pros a few years ago and am looking to get back into it. Ana wins Tennis Channel's "Hotties" award Oct 18th 2006

Thanks to the voting of her loyal fans, Ana won The Tennis Channel's "Hotties" award, an online poll of the best-looking tennis players.

"This is very flattering," said Ana. "It shows that people are watching my tennis. It also shows that I have great fans. Probably they all voted for me so I could win this! So I am very grateful to them."

Over 200,000 votes were cast, with Ana's doubles partner Maria Kirilenko finishing second. Another Russian, Maria Sharapova, was third.

Career best ranking Oct 16th 2006

Ana has reached her highest ever singles ranking. In the latest Sony Ericsson WTA tour lists, published today, the 18-year-old has risen two places to world No.13.

“It’s always nice to reach your highest ranking,” said Ana. “It’s just a shame I cannot compete this week to try to move even closer to the top 10.”

The jump is due to the fact that Anastasia Myskina (absent through injury in Moscow last week) and Francesca Schiavone (second round defeat) have lost the points they gained at last year’s Kremlin Cup. Ana overtakes them both.

Obviously it’s important to be well hydrated but you don’t want to drink too much before you play because you can get an overactive bladder, which means you’re going to the toilet too often. That often happens when people are nervous, they drink too much.

Ana withdraws from Zurich Oct 13th 2006

Ana has been forced to withdraw from the Zurich Open due to the shoulder injury she sustained during practice in Stuttgart a fortnight ago. The doctor’s advice is that though the injury has healed, her shoulder is not yet ready for competition.

Rankings update Oct 9th 2006

Ana’s singles and doubles rankings remain unchanged at 15th and 50th respectively in the latest lists published by the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour today. She also stays at No.14 in the Porsche Race.

Ana was not in action last week, having withdrawn from the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart because of injury. She in not competing this week either, but may move to a new career-high ranking next week due to those ahead of her losing points.
